Nottingham Flooring Company
Flooring Nottingham is a supply-and-fit flooring company working across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, for homes and for businesses. We handle laminate, LVT, engineered and solid wood, parquet and herringbone, carpets, vinyl, floor tiling and commercial flooring — along with the subfloor work underneath that determines how long any of it lasts.
We don't run a showroom, and that's deliberate. Flooring looks completely different under retail lighting than it does in your own hallway, so we bring the samples to you instead — where you can hold them against your own walls, furniture and daylight before deciding. While we're there we measure up, check what's under the existing floor, and give you a full supply-and-fit price rather than a rough figure that changes later.
If you'd rather not book a visit at all, a short video call is usually enough for us to see the rooms and get a written quote to you within 24 hours.

Laminate Flooring
Laminate is the floor we fit most often, and modern boards are a long way from what the name suggests. Wear layers are tougher, bevelled edges are far more convincing, and the water-resistant grades cope well with a family kitchen. It remains the best value route to a wood or stone look.
What decides whether a laminate floor still looks right in five years is almost never the board — it's what's underneath it. Across Nottingham's interwar semis we regularly find suspended timber floors that have dipped between joists over ninety years. Laid straight over, laminate flexes, the joints open and the floor starts clicking underfoot. We check the subfloor before quoting and price in any floor preparation from the start. Browse our laminate flooring range.
Vinyl Flooring & Luxury Vinyl Tiles
Vinyl has changed beyond recognition since the days of lino. Sheet vinyl gives you a seamless, genuinely waterproof surface on a modest budget, which is why it still makes sense in bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. Luxury vinyl tile sits at the other end — individual planks or tiles in convincing wood and stone finishes, warmer and quieter underfoot than ceramic, and hard-wearing enough for a busy hallway.
We fit the Amtico, Polyflor, Karndean and TLC ranges in plank, tile and herringbone formats. One honest caveat: LVT is the least forgiving floor we lay, because every ripple in the base telegraphs through to the surface. Proper levelling isn't optional with it, and we'd rather build that into the quote than skip it.
Wooden Flooring Nottingham
Laminates and LVT produce good wood effects now, but plenty of people take the view that a wooden floor should be made of wood — and in a period property they're usually right.
Solid wood is a single piece of timber that can be sanded and refinished repeatedly, which is why floors laid in the 1930s are still serviceable. It moves with humidity, so it needs a stable environment and generally isn't suited to underfloor heating. Engineered wood has a genuine hardwood top layer bonded to a stable plywood core — visually identical once fitted, far less prone to movement, and the correct specification over underfloor heating. See our wood flooring options, or the herringbone and parquet patterns if you'd prefer geometry to planks.
Carpets Nottingham
Carpet is the one flooring choice where the thing you can't see matters as much as the thing you can. The underlay largely determines how a carpet feels underfoot and how well it wears, and pairing an expensive carpet with a cheap underlay is a false economy we'd talk you out of.
We supply and fit across the range, from heavy-weight twists for stairs and hallways to high-pile carpets for bedrooms, and we'll give you a straight recommendation on the carpet-and-underlay combination for each room rather than selling the same thing throughout. Old carpet is lifted and taken away as part of the job. See our carpet supply and fit service.
Floor Fitters Nottingham
For commercial work — offices, retail units, salons, cafés and care settings — the specification is only half the job. The other half is scheduling, because the work usually has to happen without closing the business.
We fit contract carpet tiles, commercial-grade vinyl, safety flooring and heavy-duty LVT, working evenings, weekends and in phased sections so you can keep trading. Where an adhesive needs curing time overnight, we plan the sequence around your opening hours. For bathrooms, wet rooms and residential care settings we fit cap-coved safety flooring, which seals the floor up the wall in a continuous curve for a hygienic, slip-resistant finish. Full detail on our commercial flooring page.
Floor Preparation & Screeding
Nearly every floor that fails early fails because of what was underneath it, and nobody checked. Before any flooring goes down we assess the existing floor — for level, for movement, for damp — and tell you plainly what needs doing and why.
Sometimes that's overboarding a timber floor. Sometimes it's a levelling compound over a concrete slab, or full floor screeding, which is also essential where underfloor heating is going in. We carry out floor preparation as a standalone service too, if another trade is fitting your floor. The point is that it gets priced at the start rather than raised as an extra once the job has begun.
Flooring Contractor Nottingham
There are plenty of flooring companies in Nottingham, so it's fair to ask what makes one different from another. Ours comes down to three things.
We treat the floor and the subfloor as one job. Splitting them between two contractors is how responsibility gets lost when something goes wrong. We do both, which means one point of contact and one guarantee.
We'll tell you when you don't need something. If your existing floorboards are worth restoring rather than covering, we'll say so — even though it's a smaller job for us. If a board you've picked isn't right for the room, you'll hear that before it goes down rather than afterwards.
You can see the work. Our flooring gallery is real completed jobs, not manufacturer stock photography.
Why Choose Flooring Nottingham
Flooring Nottingham was founded in January 2022 by Liam Taylor, who has spent over a decade working in property across the East Midlands — and who started his career running his own flooring company before moving into wider renovation work. Flooring isn't a service the business added on; it's where it began.
We're fully insured, every installation carries a 12-month guarantee on our workmanship, and we're a trading name of Derbyshire Specialists Group Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 13870708. You can read more about us and about Liam, or see our finance options if you'd prefer to spread the cost.
Flooring Near Me
We cover Nottingham and the wider county, including Arnold, Daybrook, West Bridgford, Sherwood, Mapperley, Bulwell, Beeston, Carlton, Gedling, Clifton and Hucknall, and out towards Mansfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield for larger projects.
If you're not sure whether you're in range, it's worth asking — for bigger residential and commercial jobs we'll travel further. The full list is on our areas we cover page.
Floor Fitters Near Me — Fit-Only Service
If you've already bought your flooring, or you're buying supply-only elsewhere, we're happy to fit it. The standard of work is identical whether the flooring came from us or not.
Two things worth knowing if you're sourcing your own. Order generously — patterned floors in particular generate more offcut waste than people expect, and topping up later usually means a different batch with a slightly different tone. And check whether it's pre-finished or unfinished, because unfinished boards need sanding and sealing after laying, which adds days to the job.
